The Odd 72 1/2 Handbrake Problem 2

Here's what happens...

In the image below, note the depth of the "reverse C-shaped" slot in the horizontal bar
on the left side of the picture (around the pin on the forward shoe). I measured the space
between the top of the shoes with the hand brake off. It was about 4 1/4".
